BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's cross country teams were awarded with All-Academic team honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Thursday morning. The teams were two of 427 Division 1 programs selected across the country.
Teams selected by the USTFCCCA must uphold at least a 3.0 GPA for the semester while excelling on the course as well. The men's team held a 3.18 GPA, with the women holding a 3.05 team GPA.
"Our student-athletes are focused and driven both in the classroom, and on the XC course," said program director and head coach Vicki Mitchell. "They have goals and understand the importance of strong academics as they toward their future goals of graduate school and professional careers," she added.
Buffalo is one of seven MAC schools with both men's and women's programs achieving All-Academic honors, joining Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Ohio.
