
Brianna Shingary's Golden Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Over Miami, 1-0

OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer team (10-5-2, 6-2-1 MAC) earned their fourth straight Mid-American Conference victory on Friday afternoon behind a 107th minute goal from freshman Brianna Shingary. The double overtime marker for Shingary was her first career goal, giving UB the 1-0 win over Miami (OH). The Bulls are now in sole possession of first place in the MAC east with 19 points on the year.

- The Short Story: With a draw looking more and more possible, freshman Brianna Shingary took things into her own hands as she stole a pass and blasted a shot from 25 yard outs and into the upper right corner of the net to lift the Bulls over Miami, 1-0, in the 107th minute. Shingary's goal was the first of her career and it moved the Bulls into first place in the MAC east.

How It Happened
- The Bulls were able to get the first shot of the match in the fifth minute as Kassidy Kidd saw her attempt saved by the Miami keeper.
- In the sixth minute, the RedHawks had their first shot of the match but Laura DOugall was there for the save.
- Julia Benati recorded the Bulls second and final shot on goal in the opening half as her right-footed shot was saved by Vic Maniaci.
- After some back and forth play, the RedHawks had their best chance of the half in the 41st minute on a free kick from just outside the box. Jess Bronke took the free kick attempt but Laura Dougall made a huge diving stop to send the teams to halftime still scoreless.
- Kassidy Kidd opened up the second half with a quick shot on goal but her attempt was denied, keeping the game scoreless.
- In the 75th minute, Celina Carrero had her hard shot go just wide and Kassidy Kidd had her attempt blocked, keeping the game scoreless.
- Moira Petrie had a shot blocked and out of harm's way in the 85th minute.
- The Bulls defense turned up the pressure in the second half as they didn't allow a shot on goal until the 88th minute when Lauren Kelly had her shot attempt saved by Laura Dougall.
- Kassidy Kidd had the Bulls last chance at a goal in regulation but she was denied by the Miami keeper in the 89th minute.
- Miami had the first shot in overtime as Jenny Barr saw her attempt go just high in the 96th minute.
- In the 104th minute, Carissima Cutrona had her shot blocked out of bounds, giving the Bulls a corner kick.
- On the ensuing corner kick, Brianna Shingary sent a great ball in and Angel Hart had a shot attempt that soared just over the cross bar.
- Kassidy Kidd had a chance to win the game for UB in the 106th minute but her shot was denied by Maniaci.
- 20 seconds later, freshman Brianna Shingary stole a pass in the Bulls defensive zone and dribble all the way down the field before unloading a shot from 25 yards out and beating the keeper to the right corner, giving UB the 1-0 road win. The goal was Shingary's first career marker.
