CLARION, PA – The University at Buffalo wrestling team lost at Clarion, 23-9, on Friday night. The Bulls dropped some close matches and just couldn't get it going as the Golden Eagles won their eighth straight dual.
Tommy Maddox got the Bulls on the board in exciting fashion at 133. The redshirt-junior was trailing in the third before getting a takedown just before the buzzer to pull out the 6-5 victory.
Michael Petite won his sixth straight dual in easy fashion, earning a 13-6 decision over Trevor Elfvin.
Unfortunately, the Bulls dropped their next four matches – one by a single point and two others in overtime.
Eli Sheeren took the mat in the heavyweight bout and was able to earn the 4-3 decision over Austin Chapman. Normally a 197-pounder, Sheeren now improves to 3-0 in matches against heavyweights.
The Bulls dropped to 7-11 overall and 3-2 in MAC duals on the season. They will be back in action on Sunday against Central Michigan at Alumni Arena.
