Bulls Travel to Northern Illinois on Sunday

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (8-2-1, 4-1 MAC) opens a two-game road trip on Sunday at Northern Illinois.
It will be the 28th meeting between Buffalo and NIU with the Bulls owning a 14-9-4 series edge. The Bulls have won five of the past six meetings with the Huskies, most recently a 3-0 win at UB Stadium last season.
Buffalo defeated Akron 1-0 at UB Stadium on Thursday night. With the victory, the Bulls extended their winning streak to four games. Graduate student forward Jasmine Guerber was the hero of the night, recording a top-play worthy game-winner in the 63rd minute. She has now scored in three straight games and has five goals on the year. The Bulls doubled up the Zips in total shots, 19-8, including a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-3 edge in corner kick opportunities. Junior goalkeeper Lexie Thompson made two saves on the night.
The Bulls are balanced offensively, with 19 goals scored off the feet of seven different players, led by Guerber and junior midfielder Laiken Kiser who have five goals each. Thomspon leads the Bulls between the pipes, compiling an 8-2-1 overall record. She leads the MAC and ranks in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (.55) and shutouts (6) while ranking second in the league in save percentage (.838) across 11 contests.
As a team, the Bulls lead the MAC and rank in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (.55) and shutout percentage (.545) while also leading the league and ranking 47th in goal differential (13). Offensively, the Bulls lead the league in shots per game (15.1), shots on goal (7.7) per game while ranking in the top three in points (54), goals (19), assists (16), scoring offense (1.73) and corner kicks per game (5.6).
Northern Illinois is 3-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in league play after defeating Central Michigan 1-0 on Thursday. The Huskies are led offensively by Tyra King who has notched two goals on the year. NIU has a trio of goalkeepers who have split time between the pipes, combining for a 1.30 goals against average, .690 save percentage and 29 saves across 10 contests this season.
Up next, Buffalo will close out the road trip at conference newcomer UMass on Thursday, October 9 at 3pm. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
