Moran, Newton and Salazar Rise All-Time Ranks at UCF Knight Invite

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University at Buffalo track and field program participated in the University of Central Florida's Knight Invite on Friday and Saturday, competing against several programs from the southeast. The Bulls saved their best for Saturday, with three new performances entering the all-time ranks on day two.
FRIDAY
Linnea Neureuther finished sixth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.37. The freshman was just shy of her personal record that ranks fifth in UB outdoor history (1:01.34 ). Gemma Galligani also posted a top 10 finish, taking ninth (1:03.19). Isa van Puffelen also competed for the Bulls (12th, 1:03.82).
Krista Perry set a new personal record of 5.41 meters in the women's long jump to place 17th of 33 competitors. Kara Moran was the Bulls' top finisher, taking 11th with a jump of 5.55 meters.
Sophia Sampson (20th, 24.77), Shannon Schmieder (32nd, 25.40), Uma Bhattacharjee (33rd, 25.47) and Hailey Martinez (38th, 25.77) all competed in the 200-meter dash for the Bulls.
Bronagh Cassidy placed 13th in the women's 1,500-meter with a time of 4:45.72.
SATURDAY
Moran got the Bulls off to a strong start on day two. The sophomore posted a new personal record of 12.47 meters in the triple jump to rise to sixth in UB outdoor history. Moran placed third of 19 competitors in the event. The sophomore's previous best was 11.92 meters and ranked 10th in UB outdoor history.
Juliette Salazar and Allison Newton joined program history in the women's 800-meter. Salazar's time of 2:10.94 ranks eighth in UB outdoor history, surpassing her previous best in the event of 2:13.12. The sophomore finished seventh in the event overall in the field of 47 runners. Newton's time of 2:11.26 earned 10th on the Bulls all-time outdoor list, beating her previous best of 2:13.19. The junior trailed Salazar to place eighth in the event.
Galligani posted another top 10 finish on day two, placing 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46. Neureuther took 13th with a time of 14.65. On the men's side, Kevin Gabalski placed 10th in the men's 110-meter hurdles on day two with a time of 14.94 seconds. Gabalski's season best in the event came at Geneseo (14.57).
Johanna Kleiner set a new outdoor personal record in the women's 400-meter with a time of 58.01.
The Buffalo women finished fourth in the 4x100-meter. The team of Bhattacharjee, McDonald, Sampson and Martinez nearly beat the Bulls' season-best time of 46.74, mapping the track in 46.90.
Sampson (22nd, 12.27), Martinez (29th, 12.41), Bhattacharjee (37th, 12.63) and Schmieder (38th, 12.67) all competed in the men's 100-meter too.
The Bulls closed out the day by setting a season-best time of 3:47.80 in the women's 4x400-meter relay.
