
Bulls Travel to Bowling Green This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball travels to Bowling Green, Ohio for a three-game series with the Falcons this weekend at Meserve Field.
Weekend play will open with a single game on Saturday 2pm, followed by a dobuleheader on Sunday beginning at 12pm.
The Bulls are coming off a solid weekend as they improved to 14-11 overall and 5-2 in MAC play after taking two of three games from Western Michigan over the weekend before splitting a midweek doubleheader at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. The Bulls have not dropped a series in Mid-American Conference play this season.
Buffalo is led at the plate by junior Brianna Castro who owns a .328 batting average on a team-best 22 hits, including six doubles, a triple and two home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored while recording a .537 slugging and .423 on base percentage. Junior Alexis Lucyshyn continues to be a veteran presence at the plate as she is batting .310 batting average to go with a team-best 22 hits, four doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI and 10 runs scored while recording a .493 slugging and .410 on base percentage. Sophomore Rachel Steffan also brings consistency as she is batting .282 with 20 hits, three doubles, two triples, four home runs, 16 RBI and 19 runs scored while leading the team with a .549 slugging percentage.
Lucyshyn also leads UB in the circle as she owns an 8-4 overall record, including 10 complete games, with a 3.40 ERA and has struck out 60 batters while allowing just 12 walks in 80.1 innings of work. Sophomore Julia Tarantino has also been solid in the circle as she is 6-7 overall with nine complete games and an ERA of 3.80, while striking out 48 batters to just 16 walks in 77.1 innings pitched.
Bowling Green enters the weekend series with an 18-10 overall record and a 6-4 league mark after splitting a midweek series at Western Michigan. The Falcons are led offensively by Greta L'Esperance who is batting .358 with a team-best 34 hits, including a triple and a home run, 5 RBI and 29 runs scored while recording a .427 on base percentage. Reagan Williamson is batting .338 with 27 hits, five doubles, five home runs, 20 RBI and 12 runs scored while leading the team with a .588 slugging percentage. Payton Gottshall leads Bowling Green in the circle as she has compiled a 13-7 overall record and a 1.64 ERA with 191 strikeouts in 119.1 innings of work across 22 appearances.
After the weekend series, the Bulls will return home to host MAC-leading Miami (OH) in a three-game series at Nan Harvey Field beginning on Friday, April 15 at 3pm.
