BUFFALO, NY – Winners of two straight duals, the University at Buffalo wrestling team will face its toughest test of the young season when it travels to Missouri on Sunday afternoon. The seven-time defending Mid-American Conference champions are ranked seventh in the nation this season.
The Bulls are coming off consecutive duals wins against Binghamton on December 6 and George Mason on December 8 to improve to 5-2 on the season. Heavyweight Jake Gunning was one of several UB wrestlers to go 2-0 on the Bulls recent road trip and capped off the trip with a 3-1 decision over eighth-ranked Matthew Voss of George Mason. Gunning has moved up to 11th in the latest national rankings.
Missouri is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in MAC duals. The Tigers have already defeated Old Dominion, 40-3, and SIU-Edwardsville, 48-0, in early MAC action. Missouri has four wrestlers in the national rankings. Jaydin Eierman is ranked third at 141, Daniel Lewis is ranked fourth at 174, Zach Elam is ranked 11th at 285 and Connor Flynn is ranked 13th at 165.
