Bulls Host Rival Niagara for Tuesday Doubleheader

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo softball team (11-13, 3-2 MAC) will host the Niagara Purple Eagles (5-11, 2-1 MAAC) for a Tuesday doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m.
The Bulls are coming off a series split against the Western Michigan Broncos yesterday, taking the first game, 3-0. Alexis Lucyshyn threw her fifth complete game shutout of the season against the Broncos. At the plate she hit the eventual game winning two-run home run in the third inning of game one.
Buffalo enters the weekend with an 11-12 record and 3-2 in MAC play. The Bulls are being led offensively by fifth year Alexis Lucyshyn, who is batting .315 with 23 hits. She's also added a team-high 17 RBIs. Third baseman Madison Fernimen has 13 RBIs for the Bulls. On the basepaths, Mia Mitchell is 8-for-8 on stolen base attempts this season. As a team, they're 22-for-23 on stolen base attempts. Mia Mitchell has a team leading .402 on base percentage for the Bulls.
In the circle, Lucyshyn is 7-5 with a 1.49 ERA as she has struck out 89 batters in 70.2 innings pitched. Julia Tarantino struck out eight batters in their last game against the Broncos.
The Purple Eagles are 5-11 on the season and are 2-1 in MAAC play. They won their series against the Manhattan Jaspers this last weekend, but fell in the final game of the series, 8-4. Offensively, they're led by Lindsay Mayo who holds a .379 batting average. Shayna Myshrall has a team-high 14 RBIs and five home runs. Pitching has been a struggle as they allow 5.03 earned runs a game.
Following Tuesday's doubleheader, the Bulls will host the Miami (OH) RedHawks (22-6, 6-0 MAC) for a weekend series. The series will begin on Friday with first pitch at 3 p.m. Saturday will be doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
