Bulls Host Canisius on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team opens a two-game homestand on Wednesday night as they welcome crosstown rival Canisius to UB Stadium for a showdown under the lights at 7pm.
The game will be streamed on YouTube with Jack Kreuzer announcing.
It will be the 42nd all-time meeting between Buffalo and Canisius with the Bulls owning a 26-11-4 advantage. The teams played to a scoreless draw at the Demske Sports Complex a year ago.
Senior forward Jasmine Guerber found the back of the net in the 79th minute to lead Buffalo to a 1-1 draw with Cornell at Berman Field on Thursday night. The hosts struck first in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead at the half before Guerber converted the equalizer to help UB earn a point on the road. The overall shot total was even on the night with the teams recording 12 shots each, while UB held a 4-2 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Sophomore Lexie Thompson finished with five saves on the night.
Canisius played to a 1-1 draw with Youngstown State on Thursday. The Golden Griffins were picked to finish third in the MAAC preseason poll after posting a 9-4-5 overall record to earn the No. 3 seed in the MAAC championship last season. In addition, senior midfielder Emma Oliphant and junior defender Megan Heath were tabbed to the Preseason All-MAAC Team. The Golden Griffins allowed the least number of goals against in the MAAC last season (13).
Up next, Buffalo conclude the homestand on Sunday, September 8 against Colgate at 1pm. It will be Senior Day at UB Stadium with eight student-athletes honored in a postgame ceremony, presented by the UB Office of Alumni Engagement.
