Bulls Host Georgia State for Part II of MAC-SBC Challenge

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The second game of the 2024-25 MAC-SBC Challenge will be held in Alumni Arena between the Buffalo Bulls (7-15, 2-8 MAC) and the visiting Georgia State Panthers (9-15, 5-7 SBC) at 2 p.m. Paul Peck and UB Wall of Famer Turner Battle will be on the call for ESPN+. Over the airwaves, Josh Whetzel and Bob Gaughan can be heard on Buffalo 1520/Rochester 1280 or on the Varsity Network App.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls lost to the Toledo Rockets on Tuesday evening, 87-74. Tyson Dunn led the Bulls with 19 points and 6 assists. He finished with 3 made threes on the night. Freshman Tim Oboh set career-high marks in points (16) and rebounds (7). Noah Batchelor heated up from deep as he made 3 threes to go with his 13 points. Bryson Wilson rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Bulls with 12 points. Ryan Sabol grabbed a career and game-high 8 boards.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The Bulls are 2-0 all-time against the Georgia State Panthers. Buffalo won their road contest on Dec. 28, 1971, by a score of 98-69. The following season, the Panthers visited Western New York where the Bulls came out on top, 85-63.
THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
• Tim Oboh had a career night against the Rockets as he finished with career-high marks in points (16), rebounds (7), field goals made (5) and free throws made (6).
• This will be the fourth installment of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. The Bulls are 2-1 in the event and have won the last two games, both of which were on the road. In the November matchup, the Bulls defeated Old Dominion, 83-82, while last February they beat the Georgia Southern Eagles in overtime, 82-81. Buffalo and Central Michigan are the only two MAC teams to have won the last two meetings of the Challenge.
• The Sun Belt Conference leads the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge series with a 21-11 (.656) record. Georgia State is 3-0 against the MAC in the event.
• This season, Ryan Sabol has made at least 3 three-pointers in 15 of the 21 games. In his career, he has made 130 three-pointers. He's creeping up the program's all-time three-pointers made list as he's 2 away from tying Sean Smiley (2005-10) for 10th all-time.

• After just 53 games played, Ryan Sabol is 78th in Buffalo's all-time scorers list with 600 points. He has scored a team-high 349 points on the season. He's one of the best scorers in the conference as his 15.9 points per game is fourth in the MAC.

He is nearing the all-time assist leaders list in Buffalo history as he needs 24 assists to tie Shannon Evans (2014-15) and Jarod Oldham (2013-14) for most assists in a single season. He's 29th in the country and first in the MAC in total assists. His 5.9 assists per game is 25th in all of college basketball and the best mark in the MAC.
