Stoeffler Sets New School Record at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The University at Buffalo track and field program sent members of their distance program to compete at the 129th University of Pennsylvania Relays on Thursday night. Luke Stoeffler headlined the night for the Bulls, breaking his previous school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by nearly four seconds.
Stoeffler's new school record time of 8:58.22 surpassed his previous school record of 9:02.16, set earlier in the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays. Stoeffler's time sits atop the record book, beating the second-ranked time (9:03.45) by over five seconds. The junior is the only student-athlete in program history to break the nine-minute barrier in the event. Stoeffler now ranks third in the Mid-American Conference this season and 10th in the NCAA Northeast.
Matt Gensel and Rachel Hirschkind did not finish in their respective events.
