Junior (2016): Started all 12 games at safety… ranked fourth on the team with 74 tackles… added an interception, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery on the season… had six or more tackles in eight games… had a season-best 10 tackles at Nevada (9/17)… had eight tackles (seven solo) at Boston College (10/1)… had six tackles and an interception against Ball State (10/15)… had six tackles, including a tackle for loss against Akron (10/27)… had six tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup at Ohio 11/3)… had six tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup at Western Michigan (11/19)… had seven tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup at Bowling Green (11/25).
Sophomore (2015): Started all 12 games at safety… ranked fourth on the team in tackles with 83… added two interceptions and a fumble recovery on the year… had seven tackles at Penn State (9/12)… had seven tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery at Florida Atlantic (9/19)… had seven tackles against Bowling Green (10/3)… had five tackles at Central Michigan (10/17)… had nine tackles and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown against Ohio (10/24)… had five tackles against both Miami (OH) (10/29) and Kent State (11/5)… had a season-high 16 tackles (seven solo) against Northern Illinois (11/11)… had eight tackles and a pass breakup at Akron (11/21)… had 10 tackles against Massachusetts (11/27).
Freshman (2014): Saw action in 11 games… had 10 tackles (nine solo), including one for a loss and a pass breakup on the season… registered at least one tackle in eight different games… had a tackle for loss at Army (9/6)… had two solo stops at Ohio (11/5)… had two tackles against Akron (11/11)… had a pass breakup at Massachusetts (11/28).
High School: A safety who came to Buffalo from powerhouse Colerain High School in Cincinnati, OH. Under head coach Tom Bolden, he led the conference with five interceptions as both a junior and senior, earning him All-Conference and All-Southwest Ohio honors. His secondary pedigree comes from his father John, who played cornerback at Cincinnati. Also an accomplished track athlete, Ryan has a 6’4 high jump and a 21’ long jump under his belt.
